“I’m So Awkward…” (The 5 Things I Hear Before Every Photoshoot)
If I had a dollar for every time someone told me…
“We’re so awkward in front of the camera.”
I’d probably own another camera by now. 😂
The funny thing is…
Almost every family says it.
And almost every family leaves saying,
“That was actually so much fun.”
Here’s why.
“My kids won’t behave.”
Good.
I don’t expect them to.
Some of my favourite galleries have toddlers running in the opposite direction, collecting sticks or pulling funny faces.
Children don’t need to perform.
They just need to be themselves.
“My partner hates photos.”
Honestly?
They’re usually the easiest to win over.
There’s no standing around smiling at the camera for an hour.
We chat.
We walk.
We laugh.
Before they know it, the session is over.
“I have no idea what to wear.”
You don’t have to.
Every family receives styling guidance before their session, and you’ll also have access to my client closet to make getting ready that little bit easier.
One less thing for Mum to think about.
“We’re not photogenic.”
I promise…
Almost every gallery on my website belongs to a family who said exactly the same thing.
You don’t need to know how to pose.
That’s my job.
I’ll guide you every step of the way while still leaving plenty of room for genuine connection.
“What if it feels awkward?”
The first five minutes are usually the hardest.
After that?
Your kids are playing.
You’re chatting.
We’re probably laughing about something completely unrelated.
And somewhere in the middle of all that…
The magic happens.
The best photos rarely come from asking everyone to smile.
They come from the moments in between.
My biggest goal?
I want you to leave saying…
“That was so much easier than I expected.”
Beautiful family photos aren’t about perfectly behaved children or knowing exactly what to do.
They’re about creating a space where you can simply enjoy being together.
I’ll take care of the rest.
